Gucci Perfume & Women's Fragrance

In 1921 businessman Guccio Gucci founded the House of Gucci. The company was to become one of the best known luxury brands in the world. In the early years Gucci was only a small business, mainly selling saddles. Later on Guccio expanded his business overseas by making quality crafted leather goods such as handbags, shoes and belts. His 1947 Gucci leather handbag with a bamboo handle became an instant hit with celebrities and royalty alike and was the first of many iconic Gucci designs, as well as the trademark red striped webbing which was introduced to the Gucci designs in the 1950’s. The bamboo was later referenced in the popular perfume Gucci Bamboo (2015).

In the 50’s and 60’s many film stars and jet-setters went to Florence where they fell in love with the Gucci brand. Film stars such as Grace Kelly, Peter Sellers and Audrey Hepburn posed in Gucci’s clothes, footwear and accessories for known lifestyle magazines, making the Gucci brand an international status symbol. Jackie Kennedy was spotted with a Gucci bag, which today is known as the iconic Jackie O; it is still a best-seller to this day.

In the 70’s Gucci launched their first ready-to-wear collection featuring the trademark GG logo. They became famous for their timeless design and high quality as well as the unique mix of innovative craftsmanship. The flagship store in Beverly Hills was revamped in 1977 making it possible for VIPs like Rita Hayworth or Michael Caine to browse for $10,000 bags, complete with gold and diamond chains.

The 80’s was turbulent for the Gucci family. The brand was nearly destroyed due to internal family disputes, tax evasion and even murder! Unexpectedly, the brand was saved by the young American fashion designer Tom Ford who was hired by Gucci 1990. First Tom Ford was there to design a ready-to-wear clothes line, but later he was appointed the role of creative director and under his management Gucci was restored to it's former glory. In 1997 Tom Ford was influential in the decision making of the Gucci Group buying Yves Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta and Boucheron. By 2001 Tom Ford was involved in all major business decisions for the Gucci Group but he later left the company to start his own brand.

Iconic products such as the Flora pattern, the Jackie O Bag and the Bamboo Bag has all contributed to Gucci being named as the most desirable luxury brand in the world by the Nielsen Company in 2007. Gucci has over 400 Gucci stores or Gucci outlets worldwide selling everything from sunglasses, handbags, belts and shoes to wine coolers and picture frames.

In 1974 Gucci introduced their first fragrance, Gucci No. 1 for women. Since then several Gucci perfume and fragrances have been developed, both for men and women. Many have legendary status amongst perfume collectors such as Gucci 3 and L'Arte di Gucci. One of our favourite Gucci perfumes is Gucci By Gucci from 2007 which is a musky sensual honey scent. With its elegant balance of exotic guava, Haitian tiare flower, patchouli, musk and honey it is the perfect fragrance for night time.

The Gucci Guilty fragrance is for the glamorous, daring and sexy women who love to have a good time. With the iconic GG logo and an amazing blend of mandarin, pink pepper, geranium, amber and patchouli this scent is not only a treat for the eyes but for the nose as well. Several editions to the original Gucci Guilty perfume have been launched over the years, such as Gucci Guilty Black Pour Femme, Gucci Guilty Diamond, and Gucci Guilty Studs Pour Femme. The first Gucci Rush was launched in 1999. The composition is a luscious mix of exotic florals, and a unique blend of coriander, vanilla and patchouli. Gucci Bamboo joined the Gucci perfume collection in 2015. It is an intense, graceful and gentle perfume with citrusy accords and a floral heart. A perfect scent for layering with the Bamboo body lotion and Bamboo deodorant spray for extra longevity.
